Blend 3 is a contemporary jazz and experimental trio led by double bassist and composer Andrea Grossi, featuring Manuel Caliumi on alto saxophone and Michele Bonifati on electric guitar. Founded in 2017, the group has developed a highly distinctive language rooted in collective composition, free improvisation and an intense focus on sound and form.
The trio has released several critically acclaimed albums, including Lubok, Songs and Poems (with singer Beatrice Arrigoni) and AXES, the latter featuring drummer Jim Black and ranked among the best jazz albums of the year by Musica Jazz. Blend 3 regularly appears in the magazine’s Top Jazz critics’ poll and is considered one of the most original ensembles of the new Italian and European creative music scene, performing extensively at festivals and venues across Europe and beyond.
